Gus & Roger Lund

The Lund Precision Group presently consists of the Lund Precision Products Division in Holly Springs, Mississippi, Lund Precision Products, Ltd. In Athlone, Republic of Ireland, and Lund Coating Technologies, Inc. in Collierville, Tennessee.  However, the company’s origins go back to 1947 when Swedish immigrant Gustave Lund and his son Roger founded Lund as Lund Products, Inc. in an old mill building in Maynard, Massachusetts.

The company quickly became the dominant supplier of cutting components to the U.S. agricultural market.  In 1965, Lund Products was sold to Rexnord, Inc., a large Milwaukee based capital goods manufacturer listed on the New York Stock Exchange.  At this point the company became known as the Rexnord Knife Division.

By the late 1970's the Rexnord Knife Division had successfully penetrated the European market for agricultural knives and cutting systems. In 1981 a new factory was completed in Athlone, Ireland to serve the European market.

Lund was purchased from Rexnord in 1985 by its senior management team. At that time, the company adopted the name of Lund International Corporation, to reflect its international scale.

More recently, in order to more accurately reflect the company’s broader scope in the cutting systems and wear parts industry, the names of the Hudson and Athlone operations were changed to Lund Precision Products, Inc. and Lund Precision Products, Ltd., respectively.

Finally, in April of 2004, Piper Industrial Coatings of Collierville, Tennessee was added to the Lund Precision Group.  In the process, its name was changed to Lund Coating Technologies, Inc.

The facility in Ireland  has full manufacturing and R&D capabilities, and occupies a 55,000 sq. ft. building in a modern industrial park.  The Collierville operation occupies a 40,000 square foot facility just east of Memphis, one of the major distribution centers of the U.S.

As of January, 2007, Lund has embarked on a new phase.  The Hudson, Massachusetts operation has been relocated to an 80,000 square foot facility in Holly Springs, Mississippi, just south of Collierville.  In August, Lund Coating Technologies was moved to Holly Springs as well. See Company News.
